Coaching Disclaimer
1. Introduction. This Disclaimer applies to all services from The Practiced Word LLC ("The Practiced Word," "we," "us," or "our"), an online provider of Christian life coaching. By accessing our site or using our services, you accept this disclaimer in full. All services are strictly limited to adults (18+) residing in the U.S. and do not constitute professional mental health or medical services.
2. Nature of Coaching. The Practiced Word offers faith-centered life coaching focused on spiritual growth and habits. To be clear: coaching is NOT mental health counseling, psychotherapy, or clinical behavior analysis (ABA). While Matthew Hilley is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, coaching sessions are not behavioral interventions, are not clinical treatment, and are not covered by his BACB certification.
3. No Professional Advice. The information shared in sessions or on this website is for spiritual and educational purposes uniquely. It is NOT a substitute for professional medical, psychological, psychiatric, or legal advice. We do not provide clinical diagnoses or specialized treatment plans. You must seek out a licensed healthcare professional for any medical, mental health, or behavioral health concerns.
4. No Emergency or Crisis Services. The Practiced Word is NOT a crisis intervention service. We do not monitor communications 24/7. In the event of a mental health emergency, suicidal ideation, or any personal safety crisis, do not contact us first. You must immediately call 911 (or local emergency services), contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or go to the nearest hospital emergency department for help.
5. Personal Responsibility. You acknowledge that you are fully responsible for your own life, health, and well-being. Any decisions made during or after coaching sessions are your sole responsibility. You agree to use your own discernment and consult with relevant medical or psychological professionals before making changes to your health, lifestyle, or treatment based on any coaching dialogue.
6. No Guarantees of Results. While we strive to help you grow in your faith and routines, we make no guarantees or warranties regarding specific outcomes, mental health improvements, or speed of spiritual development. Success in life coaching depends entirely on your personal commitment and action; it is not a clinical service designed to treat or cure any medical or psychological condition.
7. Health and Mental Health Disclaimer. Christian life coaching is not a replacement for psychiatric or psychological treatment. If you are under the care of a psychiatrist or therapist, please inform them of your coaching. If we determine that your needs require a licensed professional for mental health or behavioral diagnosis, we will require you to seek those clinical services elsewhere for your safety.
8. Spiritual and Faith-Based Content. Our coaching is grounded in Christian Scripture and biblical tradition. We provide strategies to help you live intentionally according to your faith. Please note that while we use a biblical framework, we do not offer pastoral counseling or formal religious therapy; our focus remains on faith-based life coaching for U.S. adults seeking spiritual habit development.
9. Limitation of Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Practiced Word LLC and its members are not liable for any direct or indirect damages, injuries, or health issues arising from your participation in coaching. This includes, but is not limited to, situations where you require professional medical or emergency help and fail to seek it from licensed crisis or clinical providers.
10. Indemnification. You agree to defend and hold harmless The Practiced Word LLC from any legal claims, losses, or costs—including attorney fees—arising from your use of our services, your reliance on coaching as a substitute for medical care, or your failure to contact emergency services during a crisis.
11. Governing Law. This Disclaimer and all professional activities of The Practiced Word LLC shall be governed by the laws of the state where the business is registered, as detailed in our Terms of Use, without regard to conflict of law principles. Use of this site is restricted to U.S.-based users.
12. Changes to This Disclaimer. We reserve the right to update or broaden this disclaimer at any time without prior notice. Any modifications are effective immediately upon posting to this website. Your continued use of our coaching services signifies your ongoing acceptance of the most current version of this disclaimer.
